Here’s some feedback/reviews from clients I have worked with that you might find helpful.

“Dear Jon

Please feel free to publish this testimonial verbatim on your website, as I would like any future clients who come to you for help, to know what a fantastic job you did with me in helping me overcome my “addiction” may I say to Diet Coke. At one point I was drinking 3 litres a day, and not batting an eyelid! Heavens forbid what it was doing to my stomach and the rest of me!!!! Anyway, since I saw you a couple of months ago now, I HAVE NOT touched once single drop of Diet Coke, have not craved it or even been tempted by it. I can walk into a shop and not even think about it. How fantastic is that. So a massive big thank you for your wonderful approach, your ability to help your client see things from a different perspective, and also, just being you. Long may your success continue.

With best wishes“

Julie
Northampton

——

“I have seen this hypnotherapist twice now. The first session was for my spider phobia. I was surprised at how easy it was.

I was able to speak about my fears openly and Jon helped me change my thoughts and feelings over spiders. Before I’d panic and get hot if in a room with a spider and have bad dreams. Now I’m able to calmy deal the situation no problem.

I was so impressed I went to see him again for my pepsi/coke addiction. I had been drinking 2 litres a day for six years and was hooked to caffiene and fizzy drinks. This session took a bit longer but was just as easy. It required no effort, just talking about my habits surrounding drinking pepsi etc.

Since that session I havent touched a drop of the stuff! I have been tempted, sure, but I just dont drink it anymore!

Jon was great at listening and trying to understand the situation/habit and I’d recommend him to my family/friends etc.

I will certainly be going back”.

Look into my eyes … Are you a weirdo? … Will I cluck like a chicken? Check out the Frequently Asked Questions to ease your mind.

Here’s a list of questions I am often asked, so I thought I’d share the answers with you. If there is something I haven’t covered then send me a message and I will answer you as soon as possible

Will you make me cluck like a chicken and will I lose all control?

No! Is the short answer. Unfortunately stage hypnosis has give therapeutic hypnosis a bit of a bad name. Often people dont realise that when you watch people acting strange on stage they are actually happy to do this. Stage hypnotists perform in front of audiences who have been drinking and would most likely cluck like a chicken if you asked them to anyway. The realist of hypnosis is that it’s about compliance. Basically, if people want to be hypnotised, or want to cluck like a chicken, or what to get better, or feel no pain, or relax, or stop being afraid, then they will. Nothing about hypnosis is forcing you to do something against your will. Have a look at How it Works to get a better understanding.

If anything, you are more in control with hypnosis. It is a state of deep relaxation and focus. I help to guide you through this. Anyone who has experienced hypnosis will tell you that if a fire alarm went off or I suggested something you were not happy with then yopu would immediately come round.

“Ah, but if you can stop me feeling any pain then that means I’ve lost control of my senses … you could do anything to me!” I hear you cry. Actually, you would feel no pain because you didn’t want to feel any pain. In other words, it’s you who chooses not to feel any pain – I just help you do that.

Quite often I like to video the sessions. This helps me to look at my own practice and find ways to improve it, but it also means that clients can be safe in the knowledge of everything that went on. You’re more than welcome to have a copy as well.

Will I tell my deep dark secrets?

Again, no. Let’s say you came to Worthing for hypnotherapy to lose weight or stop smoking. How strange would it seem if I suddenly asked you to tell me something you didn’t want me to know? Your conscious mind would jump in and say “Hang on, that’s not appropriate” and you would come to, tell me exactly what you thought of me, then storm out and tell all your friends how rubbish I was. Then I wouldn’t get any clients and you would probably take me to court for all I’ve got!

Plus, I’m not interested in your deep dark secrets. I have integrity and I do this because I care. It’s that simple I’m afraid.

Are you a be a bit of a weirdo?

I hope not! But you might think differently. I certainly don’t wear a cape or swing a pocket watch. I don’t have a pointy beard and I don’t run through the forest naked listening to whale music on my ipod either. You might ask that question because there are some odd people who do what they call “hypnotherapy”, but I’m not one of them.

Derren brown makes people commit armed robbery and shoot people under hypnosis. How do I know you wont do that to me?

Because you would tell the Police that you never had any intention to shoot, or rob, anyone until you started seeing me. Then I’d end up in prison. I don’t want that to happen.

There’s no doubt that Derren Brown is excellent at what he does. But don’t forget that he spends alot of time with these people and I am sure alot of editing goes on, as well as off-camera work, with people to get them to do those things. We would only need a short amount of time together to make the changes you want through hypnosis. I think you would become suspicious if you were seeing me every week and i was telling you where to buy a gun!

Do you do other alternative therapies?

Sorry, no I don’t. But I do know some credible people who do some let me know what you are interested in and I will try and point you in the right direction.

How much does an appointment cost and how long do they last?

I have a terrible habit of over-running on time but the general rule is £45 for one hour. I charge an extra £5 for home visits to cover travelling expenses unless you are registered as disabled or are agoraphobic. If you are seeing me because you have any other issue that stops you coming to see me then i charge £40 per hour . If you can show that you claim benefits other than child benefit then I charge £35 per hour.

Why are you so cheap?

Alot of people have asked me that. Some people feel that if I offer a quality service then i should charge more. However, alot of Hypnotherapists charge alot of money because they feel this proves that they are good. unfortunately, from what previous clients have told me, this is not always true. Added to this is the fact that alot of hypnotherapists, not just in Worthing but nationwide, pay alot of money to become members of special societies or join associations and registers that they are told will “prove” they are good. However, I don’t believe this is necessary as my work speaks for itself. As such, I don’t need to charge you alot of money in order to pay for my mistakes. I have been more than adequately trained and am insured. You shouldn’t have to foot the bill for that.

The main reason I am considered affordable and inexpensive is that my motive is first to help people. I am not interested in earning loads of money or ripping people off for my own gain. I think I offer a very fair price and wold feel I was cheating you by asking for more. Take a look at some of the other therapists in Worthing and Sussex and ask yourself, “Should it really cost that much to help someone”. I don’t think so. But that’s just me.

Do you do home visits?

Yes. I would say that 40% of my sessions are carried out in poeple’s homes. This may be because people feel more comfortable doing this or because they struggle to come to me. I aim to provide a hypnotherapy service in Worthing and Sussex that considers my clients needs first.

Are you insured?

Yes. Fully.

Can I be hypnotised?

I have yet to meet someone who cant be hypnotised. The only time a can see that this would happen is if a person didn’t want to be. Again, hypnosis and hypnotherapy is about you wanting to take part. I don’t know of a way that can force people to be hypnotised.

Can you teach me to hypnotise others?

I do offer effective and efficient training but only to those that are serious about learning. Please send me a message if you really want to do this.

Can I hypnotise myself?

Most definitely. Some people come to me solely because they want to learn self hypnosis. Whether that’s for reasons varying from pain control, weight loss to self esteem or eating disorders it can be easily achieved.

Be honest, can you really stop people feeling pain?

Yes. That’s a real passion of my. It’s simply mind over matter. Pain is a sensation and a signal sent to the brain. Ultimately it’s all about perception. Hypnosis is a very powerful tool to achieve this.

Do you do past life regression?

I do life regression. I’m not sure I believe in past lives so I would feel I was deceiving you if i attempted that. I do regression in this life however and it has proven to be very effective.

Do you do hypno-band?

As a hypnotherapist in Worthing and Sussex I have to be honest and say that Hypno-Band is a very effective approach to losing weight. However, Hypno-Band is a registered trademark because it is a pre-packaged approached to weight loss. That’s why it can sometimes be very expensive, because buying the product isn’t cheap. The principles to Hypno Band, however, are straight forward and easy to achieve. I use these same principles without selling you the product.

Do you do NLP and are you qualified?

As a hypnotherapist in Worthing and Sussex, I do use NLP techniques. If you want to learn more about what these are then I would recommend looking them up on google or wikipedia. The idea of being qualified in NLP techniques is a bit misleading. Anyone can run a course on NLP and give you a certificate in NLP. However, those who pioneered NLP didn’t have or need a qualification … because being qualified in NLP (or hypnosis) doesn’t really guarantee anything. I have been trained to use NLP very effectively alongside hypnotherapy. I have even helped other NLP practitioners and hypnotherapist using these techniques. I do use NLP but have refused to receive the “qualification” because I believe it upholds the lie that getting a certificate means you can effectively help people.

During sessions I often explain and teach clients to use Hypnosis and NLP for themselves. Self hypnosis and self NLP are great tools you can leave my sessions with.

If you have any other questions then please do ask them by sending me a message. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hypnotherapy for addictions and habits works in a similar way to hypnosis for pain relief.

Usually, the reasons people continue with bad habits and addictions is 3 fold.

Firstly, once a person stops their addiction or habit they feel compelled to start again due to cravings they feel. This can be seen as physical withdrawal symptoms. The toxins and poisons we put into our bodies are processed and once they leave the body feels compelled to restore them.

Secondly, addictions and habits can be seen as ‘associated behaviours’. For example, smoking and drinking alcohol and hot drinks go hand in hand for some people. Similarly, finishing a hard days work is immediately followed by drinking alcohol, perhaps as a reward.

Lastly, the reactions that occur in our brain once we carry out addictive behaviour produces the pleasure chemicals known as opioids. Sounds familiar? Opioids are used by doctors for the relief of pain, for example Morphine, which we know is highly addictive.

Addictions and habits should not just be attributed to food and substances. The same associations, cravings and brain reactions occur with addictive behaviours ranging from stealing to internet pornography.

Hypnotherapy is a powerful approach to ridding ourselves of addictions and breaking habits. There is no set formula used in hypnosis for addictions and habits. This is because everyone is different and their addictions and habits are particular to them. As such the hypnotherapy you undertake will be tailored specifically to you.

Please do get in contact if you feel you would like more information on this and how best I can help you.

This is an area of hypnosis that I am very passionate about. Hypnosis has been used for the relief of pain for more than a century. In fact painless surgery under hypnosis has occurred since the mid 1800′s.

So why hasn’t this been introduced to hospitals a long time ago? I can only hazard a guess that people don’t really understand hypnosis … and the big pharmaceuticals would lose too much money!

Check out these videos that show how effective hypnosis can be in the relief of pain during dental surgery.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Dental Surgery

More locally, this first video reports on a man carrying out hypnotherapy on himself in Worthing hospital. When we meet I can show you how you can hypnotise yourself in the same way.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Hypnotised for surgery – YouTube.

I’ll let you into a little secret that hypnotherapists don’t want you to know, ‘Pain’ is the result of your body sending a message to your brain through your nerves. The brain then interprets this message and identifies it with ‘pain’ – that it will hurt. It’s all about interpretation. That’s why some people feel pleasure instead of pain. Hypnosis can change your pain into pleasure.

In reality, most of the nerves that transmit this signal are at a very shallow level in the body. These nerves are just below the skin. In the Hypno Surgery video below you can hear the hypnotherapist say to the client that he might feel some ‘prodding’ whilst the surgery takes place. Naturally this is to be expected. We can feel when we need to go to the toilet, or when we feel bloated, or even when someone sits on our lap or we have to carry a back pack. Doing this doesn’t actually hurt – yet we can still feel it. Why doesn’t it hurt? Because we don’t think it will hurt. Because we are told it doesn’t hurt.

You may have been told by a doctor, “We will give you an anaesthetic to stop the pain [assuming you will feel pain – when really you might not] and afterwards you will feel some discomfort and pain. So, don’t worry, we will give you some pain-killers so you wont feel this as much”. In truth, you feel the pain because you anticipate it. There are numerous medical studies that show that the anticipation of pain increases the feel and therefore you feel ‘pain’ more. In reality, its only signals to an from the brain that you interpret.

Hypnotherapy helps to re-interpret these signal for what they are: harmless sensations. Pain signals warn you brain of danger. When there is no danger, there’s no need to feel pain. A bit like someone sitting on your lap.

Think about it. You might not have ever experienced this but, have you ever cut yourself and didn’t realise until you noticed the blood? This is because the brain interpreted the signals as harmless. Surprisingly, many victims of stab wounds have stated that they didnt realise they had been stabbed as there was no pain. What they did notice was a “warm feeling”. They checked this out and only then realised they had been stabbed. Even then it took a while for their brain to think “I’ve been stabbed! This is gonna be painful”. By then its too late – you’ve been stabbed! The truth is, ‘pain’ is abstract. And its reinforced by other people.

I’m babbling! Take some time out to watch this documentary on Hypno Surgery, which explains things perfectly. If you have any thoughts or questions afterwards then please do contact me.

Hypnotherapy can be used for all kinds of pain relief from surgery to phantom limb pain to Fibromyalgia. Hypnotherapy has also been proven to help with the speed up of recovery from operations and illness as well as help reduce and remove symptoms of post viral fatigue and post viral symptoms.

Simple! Right?!

Of course its not that simple, in practice. Busy lives, awkward shift patterns and ingrained behaviour are only a few of the reasons why we end up gaining weight.

Added to this may been factors in our past that might lead us to “comfort eat”, for example. We may even consume food as a way of coping or distracting us from issues in our lives.

My approach to weight loss is finding out what works for you in your life. Its no good me suggesting you run for 20 miles each morning and only eat leafs from the vegetable patch that you now must keep, if this doesn’t fit into your life!

Added to this is the fact that potentially you may have a disability which further impacts on the amount of calories you burn. As such, I have to be realistic and work with you to find a solution specific to you.

One thing we do know is that dieting doesn’t work, but healthy eating in moderation does. Everything in moderation … including moderation!

I don’t suggest a fitness regime or any specific diet. I understand that weight is a big problem that impacts on many areas of life and therefore I certainly don’t judge.

My aim will be to help you recognise when you body says it is full. I will also help you to really taste and appreciate food. (Its a fact that many over-eaters don’t actually really enjoy the taste of their food because food is serving a hidden purpose for them). Alongside this, I will equip you with strategies that work for you to dealing with feelings or hunger and cravings.

As the feelings of hunger and cravings are just perceptions in the brain, hypnosis can help alter or reduce these perceptions. As such the feeling of hunger will only occur when you truly are hungry and you body needs food. In regards to cravings, these can be effectively dealt with through hypnosis so they are imperceptible and ultimately disappear.

Please get in touch if there is anything further you would like to know about how hypnosis can help you with weight loss.

Depression and negative moods can severely impact on individuals and reduce our quality of life. They often suddenly overwhelm us and take over control. Well, they are youremotions so let me help you start to take control over them.

This is a big step for a lot of people … after all, they’ve grown quite attached to their emotions! If this is the case for you, or whether you would just like to take things slowly, I can help you ‘learn to cope’ with your emotions or just ‘take the edge off’.

I would never suggest that I can rid of your emotions completely, for example if you said, “I never want to feel sad again”. Emotions are very important and are part of being human. However, certain emotions may take an unhealthy precedent over others and when they occur they can cause more harm than good.

By working together we can find a way of regaining control over your emotions. To experience them at the appropriate time, to understand what emotion you are feeling, and manage them better when they arise. Hypnosis is a very powerful tool to achieve this.

Alternatively, it may be that you would like to feel more of an emotion that you feel you don’t experience enough of. It is not uncommon for people to feel “numb” to a situation or life event. This can be unnerving and disconcerting. Through hypnosis we can identify the emotion you would like to feel and slowly begin to introduce it in a controlled way.

Perhaps you feel that generally your mood is low. By using simple and enjoyable techniques we can help elevate your mood. Basically, this means making you happier!

If you are looking for help with depression through hypnosis, we can use even more effective and long lasting techniques, removing the grip depression can have on us. Through hypnosis you can begin to experience life to its fullest and truly understand what it means to be happy.

Some people find that they would like a temporary release from experiencing emotions in order to manage better in certain situations. You may want temporary release because you still value the feelings you have but you may need a break from them at certain times. Again, this is something that hypnosis can effectively achieve.

Contact Sussex Hypnotherapy to discuss any of your needs further.

Anxiety can be devastating to those that suffer from it. Yet, it often goes unnoticed. The symptoms that sufferers experience (raised heart beat, feelings of dissociation, panic attacks, sweating, fear, confusion, feelings of isolation and concerns over mental health) are often not seen by those around you. Often you may feel like you are living a lie, whereby you have to act like everything is OK when inside you are suffering alone. Anxiety can make you feel alone and helpless.

Hypnosis will help you take control over anxiety. You will be able to stop its symptoms and remain calm and level headed. You will learn why you become anxious and find out how you can overcome the hold anxiety has on you. Ultimately you will be back in control of your life and anxiety will be a thing of the past.

Blushing is another common affliction that some people experience on a very regular basis. Often there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. This can also be linked with anxiety, though not always.

Like anxiety, Blushing seems to have a “mind of its own” and often comes about for no apparent reason. Sussex Hypnotherapy will help your mind to learn when it should and shouldn’t blush. By using hypnosis we can learn what feelings and sensations arise when you blush. Then we can teach your subconscious to understand why there is no need to blush. The signals that are sent to the brain that come from, and cause, these symptoms will be reinterpreted by the brain and properly understood. This will mean that blushing will go away. Hypnosis for blushing works!

Often, after hypnosis, clients are surprised to find that they feel they are going to blush but it no longer actually happens.

The power of hypnosis for blushing is something you deserve to experience.

Blushing can have a huge impact on life and often people underestimate how awful it can be to constantly blush. Let Sussex Hypnotherapy take this problem away for you so that you can live a normal and enjoyable life.

Sounds easier said than done, doesn’t it? Well, here’s an interesting fact for you, some people think of hypnotherapy as a ‘mental massage’. Hypnotherapy for stress is effective and lasts.

In a world that is constantly fast paced, where we experience ever increasing demands and every spare moment can be filled with something else off life’s ‘To Do’ list, we rarely give ourselves the opportunity to de-stress and relax.

Relaxation is highly undervalued. In fact, when we relax we feel as though we are being lazy and “should be getting on with something”. Relaxation is an important part of being human. Its what helps us to cope. It recharges our batteries whilst at the same time being enjoyable.

One weeks holiday in the summer is not enough (especially if you have children and a family to take with you!). Relaxation is about respecting our bodies and looking after ourselves. It’s what stops stress consuming our lives.

Sussex Hypnotherapy offers you a quiet, comfortable and safe place to experience deep relaxation extremely quickly. You will not have to lie awake for hours on end waiting to go into a deep state of relaxation like you might when you go to bed (this is another symptom of stress, that when you need to relax the most your mind wont let you). Sussex Hypnotherapy offers an almost immediate state of deep relaxation … yet you will not be asleep. You will be conscious to fully experience the value of deep relaxing and de-stressing. Sussex Hypnotherapy is like a mental massage!

Don’t under-estimate the difference taking quality time to relax will make. Take the time to enjoy quiet and to de-stress. Let Sussex Hypnotherapy help you achieve this within moments of walking through the door.

Sussex Hypnotherapy will also teach you in these sessions how to relax yourself and experience self hypnosis. Never again will you needlessly struggle to sleep! Hypnosis easily helps you sleep better. Often clients state that they have wonderful vivid dreams after hypnosis.

Thousands of people in the UK suffer from debilitating phobias and fears. Ranging from spiders and snakes to heights and flying, they have a deep impact on individuals and are life limiting.
